Farah Mendlesohn

Farah Mendlesohn is a retired university Professor, has served as President of the International Association of the Fantastic in the Arts, Editor of Foundation, and Treasurer of the BSFA, and has chaired or co-chaired three Eastercons.


Farah Mendlesohn’s best-known books are The Cambridge Companion to Science Fiction (2003), Rhetorics of Fantasy (2009), and The Pleasant Profession of Robert A. Heinlein (2019). Farah won a Hugo Award in 2005, the World Fantasy Award in 2017, the Mythopoeic Award in 2018 and has won three BSFA awards for non-fiction. Every book has been driven by a fascination with what the genre can do.
