I am delighted to introduce you to our new family member Steven J Dines! Steven joins the Harvester project with Look Where You Are Going Not Where You Have Been, which will be the new addition to the series, #9, under the Dark Fantasy banner.
Steven found his way to the Luna family during Speculative Scotland open submission, back at the start of 2020, and we are delighted to bring to life his first collection.
The cover art had been entrusted to the capable hands of Tara Bush, whose work has graced Black Static, among many other places. We are super excited to see her original artwork for Steven's book. Here is her website.
Steven J Dines' dark literary fiction has been published in numerous magazines and anthologies, including Black Static (nine times), Interzone, Crimewave, Fireside Magazine, Terror Tales of the Home Counties, and Best British Horror. Originally from Aberdeen, Scotland, he currently lives south of the border, in Salisbury, with his wife and two sons.
Look Where You Are Going Not Where You Have Been is a stunning debut collection of dark literary fiction exploring grief, regret, and hope. A family is torn apart by tragedy and misadventure, their future creaking under the weight of judgment. Old men play at being ghosts while a young boy sees real ones wherever he turns. A wandering immortal desperately seeks an end to his pain. Intimate, unflinching, and poignant, these eleven tales of the broken and the unmade include the two previously unpublished novellas, dragonland and This House is Not Haunted.
Look Where You Are Going Not Where You Have Been will be Harvester #9, following Paul Kane, Marie O'Regan, Stephen Bacon, Wole Talabi, Tim Major, Ian Whates, Nick Wood and Fabio Fernandes. You can find their books on the Harvester page of the store.
For those of you not familiar with The Harvester Series, let me tell you about it. Each book is a collection showcasing great stories from the past alongside some brand new ones, as well as bonus material, exclusive to this collection. A gathering of stories; a harvest. The bonus material will include a personal touch from each of the authors, allowing you to know them better and welcoming you into their creative world.
The older stories have featured in established genre magazines, such as Interzone, Black Static, etc., or in 'best of' collections. Some have been nominated for, or won, genre awards, such as the Nommo, BSFA and BFS.
We are planning to launch Look Where You Are Going Not Where You Have Been at Fantasycon 2021 and we hope to see you there!
