It celebrates the depth and breadth of Scotland's dazzling science fiction and fantasy landscape from its haunted islands to its transformed cities and everything in between. Jenni Coutts created the gorgeous cover art.

Today we'd like to introduce you to Neil Williamson and the story "Midnight Flit".
About the author:
Neil lives and works in Glasgow. Since editing Nova Scotia, he has published several novels and novellas as well as nearly eighty short stories, and his work is regularly shortlisted for British Science Fiction Association and British Fantasy awards. In addition to Nova Scotia Vol 2, 2024 sees the publication of Charlie Says, an urban folk horror novella recalling the terrifying British public information films of the 1970s, and Gallus, an anthology of new work by members of the Glasgow SF Writers' Circle, of which Neil has been a member for thirty years.
Neil on the story:
Glasgow isn't a showy town. It's a place that just gets down and gets on with things, and I wanted to contribute a story that reflected that sense of communality and community. A "midnight flit" used to describe the scurrilous practice of moving out of your rented property in the middle of the night to avoid paying rent, and while I've obviously never done that myself I kinda admire that anti-authority vibe. Combining this with Glasgow's legendary emblems - the fish, the bell, the bird and the tree - seemed like a good way to showcase the city's innate anarcho-socialist nature in the positive aspect in which it most often surfaces in real life.
The language is Glaswegian Scots.
